Eläkeläiset for Eurovision!

Eläkeläiset (meaning 'pensioners') are a Finnish humppa band, and they are one of the possible Finnish entrants to this year's Eurovision Song Contest. Because Eurovision is so much better when the acts countries are entering are completely ridiculous (remember Lordi, or that Ukrainian transvestite in the shiny tin foil suit?), rather than just boring ballads, they're obviously going to have to win.

Eläkeläiset's usual modus operandi is creating fantastic humppa cover versions of various well known songs. Some examples:

Obviously, they can't enter Eurovision with a cover (more's the pity), so they've had to write an original song and this is the result:

Maybe not as side-splittingly hilarious as "Can't Get You Out of My Head," but still full of more humppa-y goodness than you can shake a accordion at. And it still needs to win. So please inform everyone Finnish on the internet that it absolutely must be their Eurovision entrant in 2010. Don't let them settle for another crummy ballad!

Haha, I actually know this one, and that is an awesome cover.

Also, I had no idea that Kylie Minogue was popular outside of Australia/New Zealand.

She sells huge amounts of records here and pictures of her bum regularly appear in tabloids (or at least used to a few years back). I don't think Americans have much of a clue who she is, though.
