Officially official: Duke Nukem Forever to take forever

A very reliable source close to Duke Nukem Forever developer 3D Realms today confirmed to Shacknews that the development studio has shut down.

The closure came about as a result of funding issues, our source explained, with the shut down said to affect both 3D Realms and the recently resurrected Apogee. Employees of both entities have already been let go.

Good news is that all those things you said you'd do when Duke Nukem Forever was released will never have to be done. Bad news is we can no longer make jokes about it...

We should pick it up ourselves. We can release mocked up screenshots every few years to keep the anticipation going. Anyone want to chip in?
