I was surprised not to find it here yet. What have you bought recently?

I picked up Zoo Tycoon DS last week. It's a slightly simplified version of the PC game. While nothing special it shows simulation games have potential on the DS. The graphics could have been better but they do the job. Anyway, it just feels good to have a simulation game that you can take with you. But I hope the upcoming Sim City DS works out better. (I'd personally love to see Roller Coaster Tycoon on DS)

Yesterday I bought Super Monkey Ball: Touch & Roll. It looks good but it suffers from the same disease Rayman DS and Super Mario 64 DS had: Neither the directional pad or the Touch Screen can imitate the analog stick that was used in the console versions. This is really a shame for a game that requires accurate control. Some of the levels are nearly impossible without the analog stick. There's some mini-games but some of them just don't work well. However, with some friends, Monkey Golf or Monkey War could be quite fun.

I picked up Viewtiful Joe: Double Trouble for £9.99 over the weekend. I've literally only played it for about 5 minutes, but it seemed a pretty faithful recreation of what made the GC games great.

I bought Contact a little over a week ago, and I'm about eight hours into it. It's starting to bore me, to be honest.

Note: Why not make this a general "recent hand-held purchases" thread. You know, so that we don't end up with three different ones.

Consider it done.

As for Contact, what is causing your boredom with the game?

I just caved in and bid on a Micro. Looks like I might win.

Just curious, how much is that bid going for?  I bought a brand new Famicom edition Micro for $50 CDN.

I also picked up Vice City Stories for the PSP.  Awesome soundtrack, the gameplay is essentially GTA, but there are some surprises for the PSP.

I snagged it for $54 and change, a little less than I would've paid at the CompUSA clearance.

But I'm a teensy bit jealous that you managed to get a Famicom for that price!

The combat is almost non-existent. You simply walk up to an enemy, press one button, and the whole fight can take place without any input from you. Also, I'm not seeing what's so unique about the one thing every reviewer seems to be praising: the story. So far it's as bland as any other RPG.

I've been discovering the GBA library lately (I didn't have a GBA long before updating to the DS).  I've picked up Astroboy, Gunstar Super Heroes, Final Fantasy Tactics, Mario Golf, Pokemon Leaf Green and Rebelstar Tactical Command within the past few weeks.

Just picked up Ultimate Spiderman for the DS, as well as Tony Hawk's American Sk8land.  Spiderman was only $4.50 on clearance at Target, and THAS was $15 at EBGames.

Spiderman: Awesome game so far, I'm really enjoying the classic-inspired side-scrolling gameplay as well as the fresh touchscreen controls for when you play as Venom.  It is tough though.

THAS: One of my DS favorites.  Sure it's got practically no touch controls whatsoever save for some stupid minigame when you fall, but the production value, gameplay, and replay value all make for an extremely worthwhile package.

I'm about to cave on Golden Sun for the GBA as well as Canvas Curse for the DS: can anyone confirm these would be worth it? I can find GS for around seven dollars, and CC for about $20.  (I'm a cheapskate.)

I'm sure I really enjoyed Golden Sun when it first came out (I completed it afterall), but I just could not play Golden Sun: The Lost Age. The story and talking was so tedious that the first hour of the game involved about 1 minutes worth of gameplay. I'm sure the first game wasn't that bad.

Kirby Canvas Curse is a good, but sometimes frustrating twist on the classic Kirby formula. Definitely worth checking out if you liked any of the previous Kirby games.

I bought Golden Sun 1+2 on eBay 'cos I didn't have an official cart of 'em. they arrived this morning. Brillliant games, best RPGs available on GBA. lengthy intros, though.

As for Kirby, GET IT! this game has its challenging moments but is rewarding to play, not frustrating imo. i was motivated to unlock all the characters and beat all the time trials/ line trials. a gem of a game!

Silent Scope Advance. it's a bit limiting as you can imagine, but a nice enough diversion. Graphics and presentation are very nice. A bit frustrating, but with variable difficulty, time and continues I'm sure I'll have my fun time with this title.
