There's this new game on Steam called Audiosurf. It costs $10. I would highly recommend it.

Basically all you do is race down a track and collect blocks to try and group them together and you get points. The catch is that you are racing down tracks which are built based on songs. Any song. Any song on your computer or CD. So yes, racing down a track based around the song Blitzkrieg Bop, is awesome.

I can't remember the last time I really enjoyed something as much as this. Go and download it. It's cheap, it's fun and it should run on almost any computer.

So it's a Vib Ribbon clone for the PC, basically? Well, with a few changes and fewer psychedelic rabbits.

I was watching a few videos of this and seems to me that you just play the game and the music may as well be background music. I don't understand how it is a "music" game. I can see that the game speeds up with the tempo of the music. But does it end there? Do the blocks come synchronised with the music too? Maybe it's just the bad quality of Youtube videos that's giving me that impression.

You load the songs into the game and it will create a unique track based on the song.

I recently watched a friend play it and I was amazed. Youtube does it no justice. And so I decided to download it myself. I have a few gripes with the game, namely the control is fairly unresponsive, but that just takes getting used to. To fully enjoy the game you need some relatively fast-paced tracks which, unfortunately, is not what my music library is filled with. The one Fatboy Slim album I have works extremely well with the game.

Go into the options and crank the mouse speed all the way up, it helps fix the unresponsiveness.

Audiosurf is a flippin blast, I found most of the other modes too complex to feel like you've actually accomplished anything which is why I play Ninja Mono mode; it's simplicity is what makes it fun. I've also uploaded a few songs to Youtube, so you can gawk at those if you want (Some of the later ones are better quality).

Nice videos. I haven't attempted any of the modes from the bottom row. I generally play Ninja, and Double Vision. The latter of which would be more comfortable had the game allowed players to remap the controls.
